Thanks for the comments, does help. Had been practicing on a spare piece of metal and started looking ok. Went to the car and probably the thickness of material changed plus working on 2 layers.

Quick overview pic of the engine bay. Still more welding to finish but getting there. Just tidying up the firewall and then will be looking to start top coating when the weather warms up in the new year.

So had a few hours over the last 2 days to get as much as I can done before xmas.
Welded up a few holes that where made in the firewall and put some filler in the front, will rub it down next year.

Also got some plates into the drivers floor. Not the best looking work but my first major weld job I've done and your not going to see it, especially once flapped back Seam sealed and painted.

Still plenty to do but has come some way since I got this a year ago.

So this week marks a year of ownership of this nova, also the longest I've had a nova off the road!!
Had a few hours today out in the foggy garden to cut the last plates for the drivers and passengers floor panels. Hopefully have an hour or two tomorrow to weld them in before new year comes around.
Pictures not the best as it was dark in the garage.

This means I can then give the floor a good clean out, then start welding underneath before I seal and paint the inside.

I decided to inspect the wing mirrors that had been stored in the loft for the last 6 months. Both are damaged beyond repair so removed the painted covers to fit to a replacement set.
Paint is still in good condition but had very few marks around the edges so dug out my touch up paint to do the job.

Thanks Ewan. With an hour here and there on this project no wonder it's taking over a year to do!!
So with my hour today I got the floor panels tacked and welded on.
