Possibly wrong plates? Check the chassis numbers see if they match up
Some of the earlier vauxhalls are listed as saloons even if they're not, are you sure it's genuine as it's shouldn't say 1600. Sure it should be 1598 maybe somone can correct me.
My GTE says saloon but 1598 cc

Yep 100% genuine as far as I'm aware. Everything matches up. Just find it head scratching as a chap mentioned it to me on another forum..
as what i can remember it was most probably registered to a member of the forces based in Germany and bought there . They were new opels from Germany but supplied rhd and tax free so they could be brought home to the uk. not sure how the reg worked ,I know a long time ago they had there own number plate system for German based uk forces but this was changed after a bit of bother from the Irish..
IIRC all my Novas where listed as saloons on the logbooks.
I would also have expected it to say 1598cc if registered in the UK first off, so I guess it's a result of the transfer to the UK and manual entering of data.
Looking through the V5 history of mine where it had its previous owners etc some say saloon and some say hatchback.
nothing to worry about imho.
