    Default Some guidance !

Okay as some know the engine in my rally car engine went bang send a con-rod through the block and the after a rebuild the camshaft snapped and caused a lot of damage my money is now running out so NO BIG EXPENSIVE engine rebuild is possible, I have a spare camshaft and the parts to fix the head but the pistons in the engine took a far hit from the valves could I use these again ?

Or I could use the 3 of the pistons out of the other engine ( 1 shot out of the block) with new big end shell but not piston rings as they are to much at over £35 per piston.

Seriously, where are you getting your rings from? Can't any of your Czech friends source any cheaper ones?

Personally, my view is that you shouldn't trust the damaged pistons. Are 1400 bottom ends rare in Germany?

Yes. The crowns are fine. As rong as the lands are ok and the rings dont bind then there will be no difference.

No chance - if if were a road car then maybe I would, but due to their use, I would use new or some really good second hand ones...

I had a similar situation (not as bad as yours) and the piston lasted about 800 road miles before it cracked and ate the bore...

Some mixed opinions on this one !
Dose any one out there have one good used or new 1.4 NV or NZ piston and con-rod that I could buy from you ?.
If I can can get one then I'd be able to make up a set of 4 !.

If you've measured them and they're straight then they are fine.
