Does it do it when warmed up or just when cold?
When you cleaned afm did you touch the element? They are crazy sensitive and dont like any form of contact. You should just spray with electrical contact cleaner and leave to dry.

I used electrical cleaner on afm. Ive checked timing all ok. Its worse when cold than warm could it be the fuel pump relay?? Thanks so far for the help.

Does it rev properly when up to temp? Could be worth giving icv a clean. Had a similar problem recently on my 106 gti. Would stall out after starting inless you held the revs, run insanely lumpy and not want to rev properly for first 30 or 40seconds, would also occasionally cut out warm if left in neutral while coasting etc. Cleaned the ivc and been flawless since, obviously very different engines but worth a go considering it's not going to cost anythimg and is a quick easy job.

Its a bit better when up to temp but still wants to cut out. As for the icv will give it a clean and see if it makes a difference. Fuel reg aint that old but you never know. Cheers
