Default 1986 Vauxhall Carlton GL (lowered on Borbets)

I don't know if this is anyone on here's cup of tea, but ...

    I have for sale:

1986 Vauxhall Carlton 1.8 GL lowered on staggered 16” Borbets
    Satin red
Two tone Brown dash and beige velour interior
    Central locking
    Power steering
    Electric mirrors

    Mileage: 117,500

    MOT Oct 15
    TAX n/a

I bought this last year as a daily drive and to tidy up a bit. It’s in really good condition, starts first time, drives great and pulls well with no smoke.

Unfortunately it hasn’t much history before my ownership, but I believe the car was previously registered in Ireland (I have old tax/license discs) and the previous owner, whom I bought it off, was based in Middlesbrough and loved it to bits.

It’s very solid: sills, suspension turrets, chassis rails and engine mounts are all clean. The engine is quiet and runs great. I wouldn’t hesitate to do mileage in it, and have done a number trips around the UK to various car shows in the last twelve months .

In my 12 months of ownership I have carried out the following work:

    - Replaced cambelt, water pump and all aux belts @ 115k miles
    - Rebuilt the varajet II carburettor, and fitted a manual choke conversion & K&N pancake filter.
    - Full service: oils, plugs and coolant.
    - New front brake calipers, pads and discs.
    - New front wheel bearings and drop links. (advised on MOT)
    - Repaired and strengthened front left suspension turrett (corrosion)
    - Had a stainless steel exhaust system built & installed by power flow, consisting of two silencers - nice and subtle. (lifetime warranty)
    - New battery
    - Infinity front speakers mounted in the footwells, 6X9‘s in parcel shelf hidden by original speaker trims & Pioneer headunit.
    - Modified springs and geometry setup.
    - Staggered Borbet A 16”, wheels.
    7.5x16” fronts 2x(195/40R16 Falken ZE914 NEW)
    9.0x16” rears 2x(215/45R16 Goodyear F1 5mm)
Wheels are straight, and hold air, but could do with a refurb to really set them off.

    Parts included in the sale:
Brand new standard height springs (to return to original if wanted)
    Standard airbox
    Spare carburettor
    Triple layer outdoor car cover

Obviously the car is almost 30 years old, so is by no means ‘mint’, But it’s solid, reliable and gets plenty of looks. I’ve spent quite a bit of money getting it tidy, and it’ll make a great retro daily for someone.

    Looking for £1700 ono

    Thanks guys.

I'm open to offers on the price. I could do with making space, and cash to spend on getting the Nova up and running.

Hi Norman, I could go as low as £1500 but that's it. It's in really good nick. I bought it for that, and I've done alot in the last 12 months. The wheels are over £300, even in the condition they are now.

Let me know if you want to come have a look sometime.

    Rich
