Default Bernie Bowden - Novatech RIP

Some of you may already know, but for those that don't, Bernie Bowden passed away yesterday following a short illness. I don't have any more details.

I've known Bernie since the early 1990's when we both raced Novas, me in BRSCC Super Road Saloons, Bernie in 750MC Hot Hatches.
We came together for a track test with Fast Car in 1996, with former BTCC Racer Chris Goodwin (now McLaren test driver) at the wheel of our cars. I'd love to find a copy of it again to put up on the 'net.

Bernie has always been a good friend, and he'll be sadly missed by friends and customers of Novatech in Slough alike.

That is indeed very sad news.

I had a fair number of dealings with Bernie - in fact I bought his Cavalier race car a few years back.

    RIP Bernie.

I have been going to Novatech for the last 10 years or so and got to know Bernie and his son Andy quite well. It was ideal for me as I only live a few miles away and work just around the corner from their garage on Slough Trading Estate. I cant speak highly enough of Bernie, he knew everything there was to know about novas and still had one of his own which I used to drool over as it was mint. I used to take my old mk3 cav and GTE there and more recently my xe nova and everytime I did I knew Bernie and Andy would always do a top job. I've lost count the amount of times I called in there on my way home from work in my nova and even though it was getting late and Bernie was locking up he would always have time for a chat when I was after some help or advice with it. In fact he only took it for an MOT earlier this month.

    RIP Bernie
