Default *HOW TO* Solid mounts on an XE in a Nova

Thought it'd be useful to put some information and a few pics of how I did my solid mounts as a few people have asked recently

Mine was done with a bare block/gearbox for mock up, Chris Astley front mount (same as all the others) and TAS solid mounts.

    Rear mount slotted

Front mount on the middle hole

Front mount on the top hole

    Modified bracket

And how it sits in the new hole

After these modifications, it's important to strengthen the mounts again... Front:

For the front mount, I had to hammer the chassis leg slightly and grind the bolt head down to fit. When tightening the bolt up, it seemed to sit funny like the following so I run a washer or two between the mount and the bracket also:

When doing the final engine fit, leave all bolts loose until they're home then tighten up. My rear mount still needs levering into position despite being slotted.

There's a chance 1.0/1.2 models might have had a front gearbox mount with less bracing than a 1.5/1.6 model, so you may be lacking the extra plate on the front with holes.

Same with the rear mount, larger models had an extra brace across the bracket which is fairly easy to replicate with sheet metal and a welder.
