Half litre of base coat and 1 litre of 2k lacquer, bought myself a chemical filter mask I know I should be using an air fed mask but it's only and engine bay and my garage where the car is has an open front

2 coats of base and 2 coats of 2k lacquer, it looks really well in my opinion, I don't think I'm even going to cut or buff. I did make one silly mistake I mixed the clear coat at 4:1 instead of 2:1 I've been assured it will still cure but may take a bit more time

Top work on the car so far, I always use 2k myself with a Gerson disposable 2k mask. It works well for me. Nice project!

I'm please with the way it's turned out the only problem I have now is I have a brand new engine bay and old crappy looking paint on the rest of my car, the shade inside the engine bay is not an exact match for the paint on my car so I think I'm gonna respray the whole car myself in the same paint as the engine bay.....

Bay looks good, a slow thinners can give a better finish as it will flow out and smooth down more as it dries.

Great work! Engine bay looks brilliant, defo went for the best option with the 2k. In the past id use solvent base and 2k lacquer. But solvent is hard to get now, water based has taken its place. Was your colour/base coat also 2k?
