    Default F20 or f28

Hi all, I'm looking at getting a c20let to put into my nova, I will only be running it with standard power so was wondering is it worth getting an f28 and fitting this at the same time or is an f20 okay to run this engine with?
    Thanks
    Phil

F20 will be fine on standard power. Only real downside to them is the gearing is a bit short, especially when cruising at 70-80 you're sitting at like 4k revs

A few people have put a longer 5th gear in the f20 which apparently makes them a lot better for motorway cruising.

What box would you get the longer 5th gear from and do f18's have the same mounting points as an f20?

TBH you'll probably end up pursuing more power (& torque) so just accept the extra weight & strength from the F28? That way you'll never have to mess about again.

I've had an F16W and those can give like 140+ in 4th

Well worth seam welding the chassis and adding strengthen plates while the engine etc is out as Broad is right, standard power will get boring pretty quick. Especially when 280+bhp and similar torque is so easily achieved with ph2 and few light suporting mods. I'm at 347bhp and currently looking into the options of a new inlet and bigger turbo setup .

Thanks everyone, I've fitted all strengthening plates already and stitch welded the various bits needed already in either case, was just thinking more for the fitting for the gearbox mount and making sure the engines level and the shafts will line up correctly, wasn't sure if an f20 would cut the mustard, I know what you mean in terms of wanting more power I would probably fit it and want more each time

F20 all the way with the longer 5th gear.

F28 are shite, heavy and you can't get any bits for them. And are just as weak as a F20.
