    Default Frontera 2.4 Throttle Body

    Hi,

Has anyone got any info on whether a frontera TB is compatible with a smallblock MPi inlet?

So far, I know that the Carlton 2.4 TB fits, the carlton and frontera TB's ar not the same however the inlets for both cars are the same therefore: the frontera TB should fit.

Does anyone know either way if it works or not?

    Thanks!

Irmscher used a Carlton throttle body on the C16SEi engine. Not sure if it was a 2.4 or a 2.6 engine.

Right, Just so it's written down somewhere:
The frontera 2.4 throttle body has the same stud pattern as a C14SE/16SE so bolts to the manifold no problem
The butterfly is much larger - 55mm and the internal body does not taper.
The body does not have an ISCV therefore an external one is required (not a problem for me as it'll be running on management that requires a different ISCV)

Great that someone reported back their findings for future reference.

    Good work.

dangit... if I'd seen this sooner, I'd have confirmed the bolt pattern & mounting size being the same

the 18se AFM is way larger than the E16se one & from a few feet away, it looks identical.. it was fitted on the carlton 1800.

    Thanks Mowgli,

Have you used a frontera TB before?

nope, but i have a sort of on-off project using a 2.4 cih plenum to make a powerbox that doesn't look like its made from guttering, for an x16xe

i found the manta boys to be quite helpful for parts

I've got my hands on a TB now courtesy of eBay, just modifying a few things now such as removing the wedge on the butterfly and loosing all the water and servo takeoffs and simplifying the linkage (which in turn reduces weight - a bit anal but every little helps)
