    Historical Fuel Price figures
Here is a snap shot of average prices for a litre of unleaded petrol in the United Kingdom from January 2007 to date which will give you an idea of how quickly and dramatically fuel prices can change:

Bits of this thread are funny. Some of you lot make me laugh.

No relevance re the chart, I was laughing at the fact it was 50 at that time... I can't remember how much it was when I passed in 1994

    117 for diesel around here.

Price of tyres has hit the floor also.... six months ago the Falkens I put on my daily were £180 a tyre & the rear Ultracs were over £220... now the Falkens are £100.39 & the Ultracs are £140.99

re stu passing his test.... i was driving a tipper wagon in '97, then moved onto a brick crane for '98 & '99. we sold our wagons, when in the space of about 6 months, gordon brown practically doubled the price of diesel. but we could only get the haulage rates up by about 3% because the gov't inflation figures were what the rates were based on......but it was ok, because the rise in diesel tax would pay for their massive investment in railfreight, that was going to save the planet & get 'juggernauts' off the road...

they only use the word juggernaut when they are trying to make the public believe that the world is a better place without hgv's in it... if you need to ask why i'll never vote labour, i'll start a new thread...

Give it 5 or 6 months & the cost of fuel, and general cost of living will shoot back up massively anyway....

of course it will. this is a minor blip... in 1988. i was earning about £250 a week (gross) & it cost about £25 to keep my nova in fuel. these days i earn more like £650 a week & pay about £30 in fuel. it really in't my biggest worry. wait till the base lending rate goes back up....
