VW golf caddy pickup

Hi,
A lad from work is going to look at a caddy this weekend and has asked me to go with him.Anybody know anything about the
problems with them or rust areas to look out for.

they rust like hell, especially round the windscreen/scuttle area.. the vast majority were work vehicles, so expect the back end to be either bent or patched. the back doors were not strong, so expect damage there. the back window is perspex(or similar) and can go brown with age.

also look for massive veedub scene bodges, like over lowered suspension, air ride that might not be expertly fitted..


we had one in the late 80's, took the blown up diesel out & fitted a 1.8 carb engine from a scirocco in it. it went really well.

Thanks for the info.Having looked at pictures of the car it is already very vw scene with silly low suspension and stupid exhaust coming up past the cab
like a trucks exhaust.
