    Default Piper Cam

Hey all I've just purchased a 2nd hand piper cam bp285HY for my 14nv engine I have a couple of questions if anyone can help me out with answers. I've been told this cam will be fine for standard hydraulic lifters will it be ok with standard springs ?

Im im gonna use the standard pulley until I get a vernier pulley do I set the timing with original marks ?

    Thanks in advance.

It's more or less an ast2, which runs fine on standard timing settings and yes fine on hydraulic lifters and springs

Did someone who sells pulleys say that to you?

ive seen many many of these sub 300degree cams fitted with vernier pulleys which were all pulling great power and driver while sat on oem settings...

It was the person I got cam from who said about pulley and performance. So would I need a vernier pulley ?

Imho, no. Or course it's up to you but you'll find it's on near standard settings if you do get one. Although I've seen some where the marks have been offset to make it look like you did need one

Should run ok without vernier. Optimum setting not quite right but still should see a difference.
lumpy tick over is probably the biggest trouble.
