Cheers Ben, slight over sight but the guy spraying was happy enough. Had the fuel lines to work round as well.

is everyone ready for a long update?? knew i should have kept up with this. .
so following on from my visit Phil could crack on moving the car about the workshop as well and get the bodywork completed.

Shell then came through in Primer, plenty of shine on it already.

So that leads me on to the exciting bit. getting the colour on.
Phil started with the Panels, bonnet, boot, wings etc. before moving the shell into the paint booth.
    Bonnet

    Boot

    Wings

We had some issues with the doors refusing to come off, so this made it slightly more difficult but Door shuts and Sills done

    Then the Shell

at this point i dropped off the Bumpers and Side skirts for the rebuild, however i was in for a shock. from what i had been quoted the cost had risen quite dramatically because of "extra" work Phil had done. only extra work that hadnt been discussed is shown in the next post.

So although i didn't plan on having the bumpers done, not having the boot floor done either, these seem to get done as well, hence the extras! i wasn't exactly pleased with it but in the long run it has been worth it.

I also got a few photos of the car in the day light.

It was now on to the rebuild and grey parts.

so like my GSi, i wanted to go for a contrasting line round the car on the bottom of the bumpers, as i had gone Grey with the wheels, it made sense to carry this through the bumpers and side skirts with a few other bits for good measure.

So the spoiler when Grey too

Plus the Slats in the Grill

    Mirror Bases and boot handle

    The Filler Cap

    Door lock surrounds

    Boot lock too

Then it was onto the rebuild.

So i enlisted the help of my Dad again to help put the car back together. not many of putting it back together however i personally put the mirrors back together.

all back together and ready to go home

The bits of detail, subtle and if you didn't know you'd miss them.

then i had a box turn up.

full set of Samco hoses in Grey. although these are the 1.6 kits not for the 1.2 95% of them fit.

So what am i meant to do? got to fit them! The engine lets the bay down so something had to be done!

Note the Cable tied heater pipes, was a temp fix to get home from the bodyshop!

    After, the grey is here

one heater pipe wouldn't fit, not too bad overall.

Even had a pipe from the Water pump to the rest of the system!

    looks better already

Looking really good pal. Have you thought of a different exhaust maybe a single outward rolled one. ?
