Dude, you talked this up... the whole setup of the brakes has been a total nightmare....

Braided hoses are different connections to the hard pipes so new pipes installed. Now I can't get brake pressure.. Christmas, and a few clamps and I might be there!!

    More pictures to follow.

So, since Photobucket fucked up, I had lost the will to update this, yes I had gone through and adjusted all the pictures back so they worked but uploading more to there was never going to happen.

So its about time I made a few updates. So to start with I had got the FlowFlex Bush kit for the whole car, the car had no ARBS so to start with I started with the front end. This was a full GSi ARB, Tie Bars, Arms and mounts as well.

Car up ready for the Arms

Bumper off and time to go under!

Old arms off, like a twit forgot to get a photo of the new arms and ARB on.
after that, set about the Rear bushes (bar the rear beam which will come)

    Old Spring bushes swapped for

    Some Orange goodness!

Spring and Rear ARB bushes, plus nice Mid Graphite ARB as well.

Now, I may have already posted the Clocks, but it seems I've missed some of the process! the Sting had 4 Dial clocks, I wanted 6 dials. so I found these on Ebay

Sadly, these weren't very happy, think the Rev counter was slightly burnt out so

    Stage 1, gather all components.

Stage 2, strip out the working parts from the 4 dials and fit into the 6 dials

Stage 3, fit the lockwood "white" dial kit 9its more a cream than white) and paint the needles black with red tips to show up on the Dials. Fit and Enjoy.
however they will need to go off and be calibrated, the Speedo over reads by 10mph, so 30mph is really 20!

So that was the simple bits, the more bolt on and have fun bits. Next bit the Brakes!

When I had the GSi, I had a Set of V6 Calibra Calipers from a Local lad who had a Corsa Sport. they sat on the GSi for a while and when I stripped it, the idea was they might go on my Corsa Sport, but I Sold that and got the Astra, so sold the Brakes to the guy who bought the Sport, he then sold the Corsa but kept the brakes and then sold them back to me again about 3 years later!

They are in a sorry state,

So stripping them down I found the Pistons to be pretty poor

Sent the Calipers and Carriers off to be powder coated

While I was going about this upgrade I dug out the GSi Servo and Master Cylinder, Again, the Servo needed some TLC

    Primed and ready for Colour

Went with a few cans of VW Diamond black from Halfords, forgot to get photos of that before I mounted the Servo.

    New Discs

    288mm Louts Elise S2.

Calipers rebuilt, used a Kit from Big Red, new Pistons, seals, slider rubbers etc. also Goodridge hoses fitted as well.

Servo and Calipers ready to go on.

so, on to the fitting... 6ft2, of large build, trying to get into take these nuts off and the link pin was fun.. and painful!

    Undone ready to remove

Servo out ready for the GSi setup.

and in, ready to connect the brake lines up.
    Disc comparison...

    Disc and Caliper on

    and wheel on

Now at this point I'm well happy, just had the passenger side to do, which I couldn't do in the garage. few weeks later it was all complete. Or so I thought!
I had some issues, 1st off, the goodridge hoses were not direct fitments, the end of the hard pipes on the car were different ends so that meant I needed to build to new brake lines up.

Problems solved or so I thought. I set about bleeding the system up. thought I had got that right but had not feel in the pedal at all. it got to the point that I gave up on it, fed up with getting no where.
    Christmas came and went...

Fast forward to March, yes, 3 months later! this was the furthest the car had moved for those 3 months

So I had dad come over to give me a hand, did the usual, bit of grease on some bits, checked the pistons moved etc. did everything, then I mentioned, we should bleed them again... can anyone spot the issue...

yep that's right, the calipers are on the wrong side.... what a twat!

that's better and guess what, it works now!
    So from this

    To this

    Another update is the Exhaust.

The GSi 4inch pipe that just didn't fit right. so went for a custom back box.

wasn't sure I made the right choice, but the 3 rings on the twin pipes tie in with the 3 bumper lines.

and one last picture, it made it out to enjoy the summer we have just had!

All ready for its 1st show of the year at Earsham, plans for the year, enjoy it, get some quotes for the bodywork for the winter coming. maybe get the GSi lump out and give it a tidy up ready to go into this. need to work out the power delivery, whether it is Carbs or Throttle bodies.
