Default problems trying to pull away

hi im having a problem with my nova, it was driving fine up until this afternoon then all of a sudden I pull away from traffic lights and it tryed stalling on me as I pulled away in first, I then change to second and as soon as I apply any sort of power it jolts quite harshly before giving me any power, it only happens when I first use the accelartor after changing gear in any gear, I seem to have lost a small amount of power too? any ideas?? it seems to be fine driving down the road its just the initial use of the accelerator after changing gear.

He use to have a 1.2 carb engine iirc.

Did you ever sort the fuel pump problem you had?

no I didn't sort the problem, it just sort of stopped. ive just had a look in the carb and seen that when I hold the accelerator cable down a bit, the fuel ISNT pumped down the carb in a constant flow, it sort of sprays harshly, then dribbles for a few seconds, then sprays for a second or 2, then dribbles for a few more seconds. is this working correctly?? seems to be over fuelling a too.

its a c12nz engine block but the carb is from a 12nv and so are a few other parts.

    Lack of fuel
one of your jets in the carb blocked with crap.....
take all the jets out and clean them.

theres sometimes a gauze filter within the fuel inlet pipe that can clog up too, might wanna check that also.

and if it doesnt already have one, add an in-line fuel filter somewhere on the fuel-in pipe, to help minimize future blockages

Take the pipe of that goes to the carb put it In a clear bottle and crank the car over get some fuel in it see what the color is like if it's rusty color then your tank could Be knackered I had this on my gl seemed like pump problem have a look on the first page on my project below

if you do get rust then the pickups probably blocked inside the tank you can blow down the pipe from the tank to clear temporary it's the bigger of the 2 pipes failing that it's a blocked pipe or collapsed

if it's clean then change the pump
