    Default SR rebuild

Got started on this last week so thought I'd start a project thread

Some of you may have seen it on eBay a few months back, 3 auctions and 3 time wasters later I decided to just keep it as I managed to get a wee garage

Plenty of history with it, seems to have been built around '94ish

    Some retro rolling roads printouts

Plans are strip it back to a bare shell and build it the way I want it, no idea on spec or that yet, it's an ongoing one that will get bits done as and when I have a bit of free cash!

Got front end off today and engine more or less ready to drop out, all the usual spots seem solid although more than likely need a set of back arches

Bit of surface rust on headlamp surrounds, seemed solid but will no doubt get worse when the grinders out

Engines pretty retro cool, 40's and cam etc but will most likely be binned for a 16v job with bodies or bike carbs

That's all until next week, cheers

Probably change close on everything mate to be honest. Will need to choose an engine then everything that goes along with it and then suspension, brakes etc. scared to write out a list haha!

yeah quite impressive from an old 8 valver but its tired and would need quite a bit of work to get back to those figures. Just sold 2 coscast xe's as well, one of them would have went nicely in it! Will be getting a respray but apart from that keeping it roughly the same looks wise as it does look the part in my opinion anyways. And yeah fair shower of idiots on there, why bid if you don't want to buy it! And genuine sr mate

Got over to the garage for a few hours today

Bay more or less empty now

Wiring loom in the bay is a disaster/fire hazard/nova killer waiting to happen. Would possibly explain why the heater motor went on fire when I moved it into the garage, should be fun to sort...

Plan to get this up for sale shortly, decided on an xe with bike carbs

Few hours at the garage to day out the road, happy as larry

strip down about done, just the dash and doors to remove then I can get it on the rollover jig

few pieces of rot have decided to appear, not anywhere on the scale I was expecting

o/s headlamp panel where it meets the wing

looks a lot worse than it is, splash panels on both sides solid

O/s arch possibly needing small part out a repair section, although I'm welcome to opinions

sure I'll get away with a bit of tlc on the n/s

Back panel under the bumper one bits rotten right through as you can see, will also need to weld/smooth over the holes from where they boot catches were fitted. No my cup of tea

stevie wonder welded the accelerator pedal bracket at some point, think he should stick to music

and also more compulsory horrific wiring repairs so if anyone local has a tidy mk1 dash loom Id be willing to make a deal

Looks like you've a bit of work on your hands but a least you've giving it a decent go at it
