Wouldnt bother with valves. Good size already. Go as far as all steel but thats serious money.

May have a job getting pistons. I had last set off mahle just before xmas and they didnt know at the time when they would have any more made. But id of thought by now could get them again.

If spending a fair amount. Oversize pistons, balanced pistons, rods, crank, flywheel etc. Lightened flywheel, steel oil pump gears, Ported, guides, 3angle seats, 30deg cut back on valves, decent lift cam on solids and the 40s you would have a good motor.

im planning on keeping it for a few years but i want the engine and suspension components up to rally spec if not better and keeping the outside looking fairly original

Hi all, i am looking to find out what is the best twin choke carb setup to use on a 1300 sr engine, thats 1 carb not a set of 40s as per current road rally regs.
Engine will be running 1.2 pistons and a worked head with a high lift cam and must use a production manifold. Is there any aftermarket carb kits available, ie, weber downdraught etc.
    Cheers.

Yes mate, weber sell a direct replacement for the engine, its a 32/34 weber carb you want, weber still sell them brand new as a kit with everything you need
