Default 1.5 isuzu Diesel, turbo choice???

    Hi all,

I have recently bought a 1.5td engine for my nova, I am wanting to up the bhp and performance of it. so far my plans are to carry out the "white ring mod* turn up the fuel pump, fit a bleed valve and fit/make a intercooler set up.

My question is what would be the better turbo to cope with the increased fuel? is the standard turbo man enough or should I fit a 1.7 turbo to up the boost?
ive read up on some other forums and some say the standard turbo is fine and has less lag than the 1.7 but has anyone on here actually fitted a 1.7 turbo to a 1.5 (I know they fit) and what are your experiences of turbo lag and performance?

im not after running silly bhp, or top end speed just to be quick off the mark and look like a frightened squid

    any advise is much appreciated,

I never had a problem with the standard turbo but you may as well try a 1700, you will need the manifold too, and you will need to turn the compressor housing around.

Very true, the 1.5 feels more like a petrol motor. They are very different to drive tbh. 1.7 just sounds better
