    Default Best tyres?

After a LONG hiatus from here...I'm back.

To cut a long story short, I've applied for an MSA B Licence and thinking of taking Jet Black (yes, really, the 1.0) into hillclimbing now work situation has changed and I have most weekends free! Going to stick to the roadgoing class as despite the scruffy bodywork, it's still MOT pass worthy which I've been told is fine for scrutineers.

Obviously this will mean I need much better tyres than the crappy Event budgets I put on 3 years ago when money was V. tight. Been reading a few reviews but what's the best and grippiest tyre for the basic 13" rims?

Yoko 021's or avon acb10's if you can find either.

for the a ones there are some radical race teams that use them and chuck the tyres out after sod all laps (and have effectively a fully road life on them)

Looking at Yoko 021s...would they be too wide for the standard steels? Also quite pricey - same with the Avons. Intend to drive to the events as well as use it daily.

Are these any good? Half the price of A021s..

32's are good. I imagine you would want medium or even softs for rapid grip buildup

I've ran AO32 and AO21R in 13" on my nova, I'd say for dry tarmac, I'd go for 32, grippy as hell in the softer compound, But for an allrounder it would have to be AO21R every time. Great wet/damp tyre, and brilliant grip in the dry also.

If you want a chat drop me a PM.
