I tested the TIG out but can't seem to get it to work, think the pedal is faulty. Some investigation needed
Got the TiG torch connections plugged in the right way round? (obvious I know, but.......)

Here's what confuses me about the R-tek, it shows the settings as volts on the welder not amps, once you start welding it shifts to amps but obviously you're welding so not looking at the machine!!

As for the TIG I need to test it with the torch button to see if it's the pedal causing the issue, it's like it starts the arc but then doesn't ramp the amps up, back down the workshop this evening so I'll have a little play.

Yeah it's things I need to check Colin, I'm guilty of just getting annoyed with it the other day instead of being practical and checking stuff!! Haha

Like you say, should be fit and forget, just need to ask them what sort of servicing/inspection they would recommend and then stay on top of that.

In other news, new welder arrived and setup, will be test firing some bits tomorrow.

House, which model of R-Tech welder is that one you got?

My trusty old MiG is playing up, and I'm considering a new machine.

    Ignore that request House, sorry.

Just realised I can see the model number MIG-MTS-255-HF on the front.

I was having some problems with my trusty (and rather old) Clarke 190 MiG, but with some fiddling with the wire tension feed and getting a much heavier duty earth cable and clamp it seems to be all back to good again..

I've also got an R-Tech AC/DC TiG welder (brand new in the box!) which I've had for years and never got around to using.

So if my Clarke MiG one had been dead, I was thinking about upgrading to an all in one unit like yours. Although it then dawned on me that yours is DC only (I think), so wouldn't be suitable for aluminium.

The only all in one AC/DC TiG with MiG welder I found was the Parweld unit at about ?1600. So hopefully I can carry on as before now, without spending any money!

Use your ac dc set and just add a mig spool top box to it you only need the + and - from the set and a trigger cable

That's interesting, thanks. I had no idea you could do that.

R-Tech don't seem to list the wire feed unit separately on their website, only as a package with a 450 amp MiG

The AC TIG is a machine I want to add in the future to the workshop but for now I cause enough trouble with the DC on mild steel!!

The R-tech MIG that I have is a really good machine though, can really tell the difference in the step up from the old machine mart special I had before.

With that being said, I still need to learn how to use it all!!!
