Good luck , the reason nova's are cheap on insurance for most is because we go through classic car insurance but with you being 17 you wont get that, most companies dont do classic insurance for under 25's
I was 17 when I got mine and and started driving and I found the cheapest was coop insurance it cost me £3500 witch was the cheapest I could find. Worth bearing in mined that every car is dear when your 17
As above I use a classic policy and dont even pay £200 a year on mine but if you live in a quiet area its not too bad
Put it back to standard and try again, or get a cheap £200 Corsa/Micra/other shatbox to run about in for a couple years until you have some NCB.
Mind you, isn't £4k about the going rate for first time driver insurane these days?!

If 4k was the start of insurance prices when I passed my test I would of stuck to a pushbike
That was standard, yet I can insure a nova van for just over 900 quid!
