Default Started fitting the ZF LSD into my Nova Sport

Been trying to get around to doing this for a couple of months now, so today was the day, to start at least!

Removed the front bumper and Irmscher lower spoiler

Set the Sport up on the back of my trailer

Removed the wheels, knuckles and driveshaft, drained the oil.
    Forgot photo

    Diff exposed

Used the special tool, loaned to me by Novasport, worked perfectly

    Diff out

    New and Old diffs

Need to swap the crownwheel, and reassemble now

Just wanted some feedback regarding the grooved discs, I have always thought they are on the wrong way, since buying her, I set my SR's the other way! i.e to throw dust gases out over

LH disc shown, i.e. rotates anticlockwise when driving forward, any one agree?

Yes i wouldve thought that would be a R/H disc, my mate fitted grooved discs on his pulsar years ago, and got them wrong, with two nights of 'spirited' driving, he had chewed a set of pads

Definitely the discs are the wrong way round Royston.

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts once you've driven the ZF LSD.
To contact me please use E-MAIL to colinesmith@aol.com.

thousands of Nova (plus other Vauxhall and motorsport parts) available.

Thanks Colin/Mr Spud, I have the front end stripped so will put them on the correct way when I reassemble, might get chance tomorrow as plans have changed.

It will be a while before she hit's the streets (march next year hopefully) I'll let you know how it drives, it is set up for tarmac I am told, and the reason for fitting is to improve hook up off the line on the strip

    Thanks again!
    Regards

What's the diff set up at? 40% or 90%?

Nica addition to the Sport, would like a LSD of some sort for mine at some point. Glad the tool was helpful to you, looks a good fit. The guys at Aeroquip did a good job of making that for me

I had a pair of Tarox discs that looked very much like them fitted to my GSI many moons ago. I had them fitted like yours are, as the instructions stated that if they had less than X number of groves fit them as per your picture, if they have more than X fit them as per directional.

Having a quick look on google at images of grooved discs there seems to be arguments for both directions but I'd imagine Graham had the same ponder when he fitted them!? I'd say they'll be fine as they are, the difference it'd make is probably so slight you'd not notice and it may cause more problems swapping them over if they disc doesn't sit totally flat again?

Im sure I remember reading a while back on Mig that some Omega estates (could of been other models) had a diff in the estate versions, may of even been Vectra Estates, it was on a thread by a European guy who referred to them as "caravans" I think if you wanted to try searching for it, he posted more or less all the details to help you find one.

Diff will be in the back axle in an Omega though.
