    Default Number plate spacing

Have had a little google to try and understand the legality of private plates and spacing. I have bought the mrs a plate B13 RDL, now can I space it B13RD L?

    Cheers Neil

I work in an auto factors that makes number plates and registered with the dvla. That's the most asked question we get. Unfortunately you'd have to have it B13 RDL.

A mate got a £50 fine last week for having his reg plate spaced

Hmm what about B13RDL ie no spaces? I may just have to get two sets made up incase she is pulled. She does ever so short journeys.

Bugger the squares... Buy a set online they'll be "show" plates.. Then you can have the space. Just keep good ones in the boot incase she gets pulled..

"Normal" people hardly ever do tho... And most mot testers wouldn't even notice...

Cheers guys, I guess I'll get both sets made up. The only thing is if you have the right ones in the boot it's obvious you know what you are doing is wrong!

The plate is meant to read BIRD L

    Really?

There's a car driving around me that has all the letters pushed right up and is cut down and has a black "screw cap" to make a B look like a D.... Has had it like it over 2years...
