I have just flushed my radiator and block, water/ coolant was a little rusty but seemed oil free but once i removed the bleed screw on the thermostat housing c16xe it seemed covered in oil! Am i looking at a new head gasket?

Dont go jumping to conclutions. for one the thermostat housing is above the head gasket. 2 it right near filler cap so someone might of spilt oil. 3 i would uave said its the rocker cover gasket.
clean it all off and run it up and have a good old look for leaks
