It nearly did have a redtop when it was being built,i bought one for £300 as it didn't have an engine at the time but i was given an early e16se gratis & ended up selling the xe for £250 but i'm glad i stuck with the 1.6,i'm not too keen on speedlines on a mk1 so i'll probably stick with the standard 3 spokes although i do have some nice gte wheel trims & my local vauxhall dealer told me by checking their computer that my car came from the factory with wheel trims, just need some 14'' steelies.

    Looks good Fraser
So what are they like with these engines in then, in terms of handling, driveability and speed? In comparison to say the normal 20XE conversion or even up from the 1.6?

Well im probably the wrong man to ask mate as im biased towards a small block over big block any day, these are quicker than say an x16xe and the handlings pretty good in terms of driving on 165/50x15 ditch finders however when i got this i put bike throttle bodies on it with dta management which made a big differance but removed it all and returned it to std to sell it but im just going to keep hold of it now and just hoon it around the way it is. Hows your getting on?

Always fancied trying this conversion, it looks really tidy in your engine bay. Im starting to have a real adversion to the big block and especially on track. I want a small block for handling and nimbleness but need the power of big block without spending fortunes.
I had my first time out(shake down) at Knockhill with the LET at the beginning of July, didn't go well and had a few issues. Needless to say I left feeling a bit disheartened, got home put the Nova in the garage and haven't touched it since
