    Default c16

Hey guys. Had engine out and put back in again but now when I start it a turn the key it fires up and runs but as soon as the key springs back it cuts out. If I hold it on the start it stays running. Any ideas? Cheers

You must have a wire that needs to be a permanent live thats switched instead. Not too familiar with the C16SE loom though

Unlikely to be starter as once the engine is running the solenoid is switched anyway

If it was a switched live that needed to be permanant, it would still be on at position 2...

I'd be looking at the ignition switch because for some reason it's turning something off with the starter motor.

Either that or you have the starter solenoid wire t'd into something else somewhere?

using that theory starter motors would always be engaged and spinning

    no?

    Pos 1 steering lock

Pos 2 ignition live (there's actually 2 stages on a nova iirc)

    Pos 3 start

The problem he has, is if he holds the key at pos 3, it keeps running, but as soon as he drops it back to pos 2, it stops. Unless I misunderstood the OP.
