    Default Air induction kit advice

    I've got a 1ltr 1988 petrol nova, and am thinking of fitting a :

to my car, but it's said that putting an induction kit on a small engine could actually reduce BHP by up to 3%, anyone know if this'll actually happen or if i should go for it anyway ? and yes, I know very little about cars ! (you've got to learn somewhere..)

You cant really fit that to the point of it bringing any benefit whatsoever.
To make the engine better do a good oil filter plugs change etc.
Indeed that filter will do more harm than good

seriously Llew.. you are throwing good money after bad... tuning up a 1.0 ohv gm engine simply isn't worth the waste of cash.

if you fit an air filter & an exhaust system to it, you'll struggle to gain 2hp.

buying a 1.2 carb engine & box will give you way more performance for well under £100 and the insurance will not be any more.

Even a 1.3 or 1.4 8v is unlikely to increase the insurance any more than an air filter and exhaust on a 1.0 tbh.

It would make sense bud, or if anything keep what you have but don't spend a penny on any extra's for it apart from maintenance and then save up and build a fresh, awesome 1.3 or 1.4 perhaps?

My 1.0 came with a 6x4 oval exhaust, but my friend told me the previous owner had a bigger engine in it. That would explain the bodged harness and scrape marks up inside of engine bay. I was thinkin of direct feed to filter but then thought for the hassle nd money bothering I cud grab a 1.2 or 1.4 and drop that it then get tuning

But as for a 1.0 they pretty reliable and strong dont wanna take power away from it
