    Default Whats the best way to remove nova 1.2 spi loom

    I am building an xe and i think my pal is wanting the 1.2 is there eny way i can remove the spi loom too put the xe loom in its place and mount the ecu behind the glove box or doo i need to make a new hole for the xe loom cheers

    ripping out the loom is basically vandalism.

    the vast majority if the engine loom from the 1.2 spi is re-used on the xe. ie. the dash gauge senders, the starter & alternator wires, which are basically the same. you need to get the whole xe engine loom, then take out the wires that are not needed, and what is left needs to be put thru the bulkhead to behind the glove boot. then you make the necessary connections. the eml, fuel pump, battery +ve & ign +ve from the original 1.2 loom can also be recycled then.

    you could also tie it to a lamp-post & reverse quickly...

    what about all the wires that go to the ecu under the glove box on a SPI?, surely that's all crap?

    Yeah thats what i would like to no can i chop out the old single point injector wires and do i need the plug that plugs onto the bottom of the dizzie on the 1.2 engine

    i chopped all that out from a loom i used for a xe conversion, best to have a look in the haynes, and be 100% sure what your chopping out etc

    OP, get a nova haynes & an astra/cav xe haynes & compare the wiring diagrams.. there are a lot of similarities. and what's wrong with leaving 10 tidy wires hidden in a loom behind the dash?? the base models regularly have at least that many optional extra wires left in there.
