I thought the thread was about 8v vs 16v 1.6 engines. It has to be said that the 16v is the one to go for, smoother power delivery and more mods available nowadays. However it is worth noting that the 16vs dont tend to run all that well when transplanted into other cars (teething troubles etc). also no-one really knows much about 1600 8v engines. Nova was only vaux to have it. Most back street garages wont have ever seen one!! I have an 8v btw.

Sure the 8v 1600 is in tha Astras etc but not with the Bosch L3.1 Jetronic of the GTE & GSi MATE. Later multec equipped Gsis were common to the multipoint Astra Cesaro's and the like!
Sorry thats toshalso no-one really knows much about 1600 8v engines, unless you have been unlucky and found places that arent that good or have a very limited knowledge.
