Default major engine failure? gte nova

i was driving to work , then suddenly the car cut out, so i pulled over and turned the ignition off, left it for a few mins then tried to start it again, major noise coming from the engine then it would go over 2/3 k revs, so i managed to get it to work then home, checked the oil pressure light and it was at 3/4 then it went to half, checked the oil and it was a little creamy on the cap and a little bit inside, i also noticed the earth cable from the altenator to the body had snapped to, so i went out to try start it there, and nothing, just the fuel light, battery light, came on , it had a new battery a month ago any ideas?

Take your plugs out and see what colour they are.

The cambelt may have slipped so whip the cover off.

Possibly the headgasket though, when did you last change the oil and do you only do short journeys?

Spark plugs to see what colour they are.

If you've only been doing short journeys and not changed the oil for a long time it may have emulsified.

Worse case scenario though is the headgasket.
