Default *how to* prep and prime plastic bumpers

Just a quick guide to colour coding either bumpers or any plastic bits on your car.

This is a textured bumper that I want smooth and painted.

You can see the raised dimples in the plastic. You want to sand them down I used 180/320 grade sand paper to get it like this.

After its all been rubbed down mount the bumper somewhere and secure it and make sure that you have room to walk round it

The next thing you want to do is degrease the item that will take off any crud I use this

After that you need to coat the item in adhesion promoter or plastic primer it's clear and looks like this

Give the item 1/2 coats. Don't soak it tho just cover it then let dry and start mixing your primer

Make sure you give it a good mix as all the good stuff sinks to the bottom.

This primer is 4/1 it really handy if you have clear mixing cups.

Once that's mixed with your hardner and a bit of thinners start spraying. Edges first then all over I did 4 coats with the small gun and it looked like this.

Once that's dry flat it back with 800 wet sand paper and it should be all smooth and ready for paint.
