Wink Input shaft and spigot bearing

The input shaft on my new 5 speed box only has the splines - like this

My 4 speed had a smaller diameter smooth shaft after the splines (for spigot bearing?). Will this be an issue?

No I've got a bunch of cranks on the shelf and half of then don't have spigot bearing in them.

Sorry to drag this one back up. Just fitting a new engine and the crank has a spigot bearing in it, the gearbox input shaft does not have the smooth shaft end, just stops after the splines. Will this cause an issue or should I remove the spigot? Probably a pain to get out, but rather do it now if have to then when its back in the car.

isn't it needed to keep the input shaft central ?

Yep thats the one. The old engine never had one, the new one does, but the input shaft on my box does not have the extension after the splines, thats the concern, so think I'll remove the spigot now to save potential issues later.
