Cheers Dave, yeah it is a stunning blue. Some of the cars painted in Yamaha DPBM/Lambo Candy Apple blue on Google look amazing.

Refitted some more parts today, good to get some bench space/Escort interior space back.

Overall, I am happy with the paint job, but when I removed the masking tape from the side air intakes and fuel tap knob, it took a bit of paint with it, and left a lip.
Luckily these areas are covered anyway, but I still don't want the paint to lift obviously.

Good job I have the right tool for the job

I wasn't looking forward to rivetting the air intake scoops back on. A rivet gun that is known to 'spring' when the rivet finally snaps, and fresh paintwork are never a good combination. It went back on fine though. You can see the white overspray from the previous paint job. This is/was on a lot of parts. I hate lazy painters. I removed almost everything that wasn't permanently bonded to the hull.

The scoops only needed cleaning up along the bottom edge though, the rest is never seen.

Steering plate (think that's what it's called) refitted.

Flywheel bolts and jetski handlebars - threadlock essentials.

Dashpod built back up with clocks and glovebox etc then fitted along with side fairings

Unsure what this is, as you can see I have labeled it as 'unused'. As it was unplugged when I stripped the thing down. It goes to the sensor to the right of the hood catch in the second pic.

I'm thinking it is left over from the oil injection system. Maybe it's for the oil level, as the oil tank itself has two tails of wire coming from it in, I am sure, the same colours.

Another good thing about stripping it right down is, after the escapade of it being on it's side on the beach (you can see the paint damage down one side in the pic with Dodger waist deep in the hull) the LH grip/trim control was full of sand, as it was buried. The side fairings and glovebox etc had loads of stones stuck behind/inside them, and the hull itself wasn't shy on sand and stones inside!

Gotta be a good thing to get rid of all of that.

I think I will have a look at how to convert the grips and starter controls etc onto the MX bars later on.

I would have had the rear handle fitted, but it had a paint run, so is being redone. As is one of the side sponsons. Should have them back this week I reckon - he doesn't get his lovely sofa cushions and ratchet straps back until I do, anyway.

Should get more interesting when the oily bits go back in

I'm the same mate, I can read and relate to anything similar too. If I can brave the cold, I am looking forward to some winter wave jumping.

Guess they forgot. The lad who painted it/co-owner wasn't there on the Saturday, I was originally going to collect on Friday evening, but had to help a mate. I would have mentioned it to him, had he been there.

    No biggy though!

Random outburst! That nearly ready for the road now? Where will you hang your coat once it stops living in the sitting room then?

I am about 5 miles from it, or the river. No lakes around here to use, annoyingly. The closest is Loch Lomond, that anywhere near 'Unknown' Bri?
