As regards the ringing of cars this does happen to escorts - this is what happened to my escort ( XR3 ) many years ago
When I part exchanged it had done 90K (including 60K by me) to a garage in Bolton. A few weeks later I was contacted by the Police (as the last registered owner) - the car having been found smashed up in Manchester and I thought that was the end of the car ........ but no

A couple of years later, unbelievably we were driving past a garage some 50 miles away from Bolton but only 1 mile from my parents where it had been registered when I owned it - it was on a garage forecourt. Same reg - same colour but definitely not the same car and only 70k on the clock !

Lol my last MkIII escort I wrapped round a big sandstone gate post. Total write off. Send V5 off as scrapped and watched it get taken away on the back of a scrap wagon.

A few weeks later I had to chuckle at the amazing "repair job" that had been done on it when it was parked outside a local, erm, garage.

Them boys had some skills in that, erm, garage.
