Spent a couple of weeks sorting the rear arches. An hour here and an hour there.

Both still needed a little pulling out. After some measuring it turns out the Corsa C stub axle setup gives a little extra track, so not a straight swap atall.

Went inside and started scraping off the Hammerite

    And that's it.

Not got a lot of love for it at the moment, but did jack it up and set it on some high stands today in the position I will be painting it in. Off the wall means its in my way, so should motivate me a little.

Looking good, bit of extra track off the Corsa stubs sounds good to me!

Yeah, really good job with these rear arches. And the wheels.... are in my opinion the most lovely thing you can put on a nova. Fantastic

Thanks, they aren't a bad job, but having no experience are the best I could do.

With your arches you will be fine.

Ta, I do like them. Got them stripped now for a winter refurb. On the look out for some Cromodora's now too.

    .......................................

Did a bit more today, but only a little update. Got it up nice and high, then stripped the front end.

    Went on a rust hunt.

Got sick of my candle in a jam jar, so went and bought a proper light.

Didn't find anything too scary, but did have a few hours of patching to do.

The lower cut out was a previous repair, not done by me. So for piece of mind I sliced it open and had a poke. Just as well really as it was a mess underneath, just a very thin patch over an un-treated rust hole. Obviously needed dealing with so cut it right back and repaired it to a better standard.

Finished on that side now, But plenty to be getting on with over on the O/S.

Ta Benn, did the other side yesterday.

    .................................................

Rust finding in the O/S/F arch. Was a bit gutted by what I found, but it needed sorting so cracked on with it.

Not an easy fix, as it was mostly the bulkhead seam which had rusted, which was sandwiched between 2 others (turret & firewall)

No access from below, as it had rusted into the chassis leg recess, so had to open it up from above.

Got rid of the bad metal, then started rebuilding it as close to how it was from the factory as I could.

Sorted. Or as good as its going to get at least.

Went up into the bay and tidied up the mess. Welded in a patch then flap disc'd it down so it looks relatively neat.

Quite scary how much rust all that factory underseal hides. Still a bit to do before I can spray the new Gravitex, but its getting there.
