Default Craig's Xe track Nova (pb fixed to page 10)

Hi, Only just really started coming on here, But thought it appropriate as i have been building and tracking my Nova over the last year or so. Thought id start a new thread on here to document progress.

Its been running for a while on Mig, but instead of copying and pasting the whole thing have decided to start again as its came a long way.
Some of you will know it as it was featured in TV at the beginning of this year, others will know it from the odd outing to castle combe and PVS.

Started out as a base model i picked up for £220, which i tarted up a little, but it never saw the road like this

Decided to strip it out and fit a sparco 10point cage, buckets and harnesses

Then lightened it up with some poly windows and a fiberglass hatch

Forgot to mention in the meantime fitted a 2.0 8v on bike carbs, cam and tidy head, which i built and fabricated myself

Tracked it like this for a while and it went well, Just not quite quick enough, so the other week i stripped the engine out and fitted my xe on del 45's

Sorted out the niggles and it made 173bhp on mech motorsports rollers

Then cleaned it up and took it to the spring action day at combe. All went well

Thats the short version, which to be honest sums it up without the shouting and swearing. Il keep it updated from now on as i have a few different ideas. Currently got another engine ready to build and some 4 pots to go on.

    Current spec is pretty modest...

Early xe with the 86p's and the early crank and flywheel
    ARP's,
Twin delorto 45's on jenvey manifold
    Piper pulleys
    f16cr with Quaife ATB
    And a 2" Magnex.....
    Avo coilovers
    256mm brakes (which work fine)
    Sport steels / Oz sparco's
    10 point cage,
Sparco Buckets and Sabelt 3" harnesses
    poly windows and FG hatch
Then all the usual little bits that tidy stuff up like GSi dash and Cav internal shifter

New engine which i have all the bits for is....
Mint xe out of a low milage calibra
    Early crank
    Both steel oil pump gears
    Steel rods with arp's
    Wossner 12.5 - 1 slippers
Very nice head, currently with standard valves
Piper BP300's with all relevent valvetrain
    Jenvey 45mm short bodys
    Omex 600 + dedicated loom

Not wanting to rush the build i have put together the above carb'd xe for this year. Hoping to have the new engine sorted for next year along with FG doors, wings and bonnet.

Took it to PVS the other week and managed a 14.3, recently sequred a Quaife SCCR syncro box to go on in time for its next outing so hoping to get it into high 13's.

Plan for now is to get the new wheels tyres and brakes fitted, maybe drive it up to billing then get it to prescot for a few runs up the hill at retro rides.

Yeah i signed up years ago, but for some reason never posted any progress.

Il go up to Billing saturday morning and camp just the one night i think. If i take the Nova it will be on Mig stand, if i go in the van it will be hidden.

Ah i had a look round that last summer up the top of the paddock i think. Very nice.

Should start getting it ready for billing really. Normally just wait until the day before, but as it stands right now it has no tyres, only 3 trumpets, a v-belt which likes to come flying off and a huge oil leak.

I painted these for it recently. Got them looking really good so it seems a shame to just fit T1r's. But with the recent purchase of the quaife box and a new van cant really justify 888's

Nice wheels! How about some R1Rs for them? Happy medium?
