The original One Ten of 1983 was available with the same engine line-up as the Series III vehicles it replaced, namely 2.25-litre (137 cu in) petrol and diesel engines, and a 3.5-litre (210 cu in) V8 petrol unit, although a small number of 3.2-litre (200 cu in) V8s were produced. (taken from wikipedia)
ive seen a few series 3s that have the v8 in most were the 3.5 sdi engines which were virtually bombproof, i found this website on v8s thought it might help http://www.expeditionlandrover.info/...version_V8.htm and a friend down the road used these for bits http://www.expeditionlandrover.info/...version_V8.htm hope this all helps looking forward to seeing it running

Ideally we would like to convert it to an auto and fit a v6/v8 but after doing some research it seems like it will be alot of work. So not sure.
remember the last time had a go at attacking your shocks with a wire wheel

    better luck this time

Well we got it running, turns out the points on th dizzy were stuck.

Next job was the clutch, it was solid. So we dropped all the fluid out, flushed the system through with fresh stuff and bled the system.

    Hand brake off and...

Stood for 10 years and the brakes wern't even stuck...

    Dad was pleased

We decided it needs to be the other way in the garage so turned it round down the road. (I know its naughty but meh)

    Who needs indicators?

And the family pleased with our progress

Next up is wire wheel and paint, and try and get all the electrics working.

My mate has just finished a full restoration on a series 2. Really stunning truck now.

His has the 2 1/4 petrol in it, I wouldn't bother with anything else. Once you drive it properly you will realize without lots of work a v8 or similar would be pointless.

Good luck/ if you need any info on these feel free to PM me.

BTW the steering box can be fun to rebuild!!

stick a fairy overdrive in it, you would be surprized how much difference it makes.keeps it original, without the major pissing about of a full engine change.

quite a tidy lightweight, i have just got rid of most of my series spares, got a rear axle and a steering box, may have a few other bits if you need anything mr hobbit!!
