    Default ex road rally car

i recently acquired this car from Colin Smith after a long search for a decent shell to turn into a track toy,
i dont intend to go the xe/let route it will stay as a small block car for now,
the car has a full safety devices bolt in cage,
    de-carbon fornt shocks,
    bilstein rears
    springs are unknown
everything except the rear axle is poly bushed

    Right onto the pics

the car as it was delivered

the arches before and after being wire brushed and undersealed

the brakes also had a clean up and a paint
and both rear brake cylinders were replacred due to being siezed solid

onto the engine it did run but off a cylinder, after a quick compression check it seemed number 1 cylinder was down on compression
    so off with it's head!

all the valves were lapped in and im now waiting for the new hydraulic lifters so the head can be rebuilt and re-fitted.

the engine is only going to be used to run the car and see what the suspension is like then it will be replaced with a c14se which is currently sat in colins workshop until funds allow me to get started and a 1.6 16 valve engine.

the interior was complete but is now stripped out and ive started fitting the omp seats and harness'

at this point my camera gave up on me,
ill try and keep this thread up to date as best i can
    thanks for reading.
    Martin.

just a small update again with no pics
the engine is back together and running well, looks like someone had been playing with the carb mixture and tickover screws
got those sorted set the ignition timing added a set of new plugs and she ran on 4 cylinders for the first time

ive also fitted some seat rails and got the bucket seats mounted and harness' fixed in place, then moved back to striiping off bits

the alloy sump guard is off along with the tanks guards, all the carpets and trim and rear seats are out.
now its going to get a wash and polish then its time to test it and see what else needs to be sorted,

Big thanks to Colin again for supplying all the parts needed, handy him only living down the road.

a few more bits done this week
the wiring needed a good sorting as it had all the extra wires for map lights, spot lights, etc

    cover removed revealing

    all tidied up

    the box of wires removed

re-covered altho the vinyl bubbled so this will be removed again and probably left in plain ally

the kind garage owner also added a new sticker to the car (this may have to go tho)

seats are now in alonmg with harness'

started to tidy up the few rusty bits on the car altho no final pics as my camera died yet again

    another small update
i spent the morning at Colin Smiths yesterday collecting various bits and pieces so yesterday afternoon was spent on the nova

c14se just fitted in the bck of my van

the x16xe which may get fitted to the c14se block but that will be a later project

    old door cards

new one made and fitted, the doors need a really good clean next

also a new steering wheel was fitted

the other bits i need to fit are
    rear axle poly bushes
    bonnet pins
    boot pins
black for the rear wiper hole
wheels (these need cleaning and painting first)
clear side repeaters (wings need some attention before i fit these)
the engine, im looking to make up a loom and get an ecu for it as the car is a carb model and the engine didnt come with a loom altho colin let me take an x16xe loom and a c16se loom to play about with
(made more difficult by the fact im a complete novice when it comes to vehicle wiring)

anyway BIG thanks to colin once again top bloke, he even gave me a lesson in gearboxes so a gearbox will eventually be specced to the engine.
thats all for now, maybe more later if my motivation makes an appearance
