great thread and good to see someone keeping the faith, patiences and commitment to see the car through to what you want. some people give up far to easily. but the best bit is getting what you need from it. the fun factor.

    well done

I think its not just the driving that makes it fun. working on the car gives a a sepcial kind of satisfaction, like "i done so much, i'm going to do some more, even if theres a setback, i can do this" .....i hope that doesn't sound exaggerated

    So i went on today.
In switzerland your car has to be checked by our local MOT every two years. So my time is up and my car has to go back to road legal. First thing to to is replace the engine with the original C16SEi that was in this nova.

so i got on to disassemble the engine bay ...once again

    and got the engine out.

bye bye XE! see you in a couple of months.

eeeeeempty. enough space for another engine

tomorrow i'm going to carry on.

Firstly welcome , and your English is very good. Even better than some PNG members on here... you even used 'Bought' correctly!

Some great work on your project. The Nova looks very different compared to what is normally seen on here, very unique. You seem to have lots of skills too.

    Keep it up

what did you use to raise it ?
i used a aluminium tube approx 12mm in diameter that was big enough for a 8mm screw, then cutted the tube in 4 pieces to the disired lenght and screwed the baseplate, together with the tubes, to the shifter.
After that i filled the empty space with filler. It would be maybe better to use fiberglass rather than filler, the way i did it isnt the best solution.

and your English is very good
i'm trying hard to blend in

Now its "tomorrow" so it was time to get on with it.

Had to rip the engine out from an old nova project wich i abadoned after i realised i needed a trackcar rather than a showcar.

moved the engine to its new workplace

    calmy inserting the engine

an old friend reunited with the car, i wish it was my tuned engine, but standard will do the job for now.

i will get the engine running tomorrow... cross fingers

So, my engine is up and running.

I think the 8 Valve engine is louder than the 16V with the 2.5" exhaust system.

Because i removed the washerbottle from ist origin place i had to do some customizing.
First turn the water pipes by 180 degrees so the end faces to the right.

Then fitted the plastic cover and linked the pipes.

After that i had to elongate the existing wires for the washer pump.

Everything fitted and ready for testing.

and it works! ..one thing less to worry about

    Have a nice evening!

    Long time no post

As i had the origin engine back in my nova i had the chance to take some pictures.

    ...yes thats me

For the MOT i had to get my Car to the required safety standards. unfortunately the handbrake cable had snapped while is was working on it.

so i dismantled the rear brakes and removed the rotten cable

Got myself a new cable and installed it.

brake lines weren't good at all... so had to replace them as well.

    much better

While my 16V engine was on vacation i could "upgrade" it a little bit

first i decided to smooth the intake on the Cylinderhead.

which resulted in this. I'm pleased with it as i did it with a drill

second i orderd some nice parts for the ol' smallblock lump

    DBilas 266 Degree camshafts

    left dbilas / right original

    Chip with revlimiter at 7200rpm

    aaaaand my favorite bit

    thottle bodies

i know they're not the best throttle bodies, as i've seen a lot better here , but its ok for me... for now hehehe
