The engine started to make knocking noises, wich came from the conrods. after just 10 miles one of the rods decided to give up

the conrods were then replaced by some steel rods and my car was prepard to take on the Nurburgring. And the engine started again make some strange knocking noises after 1.5 laps. So i went home (400 miles) with an engine that sounded like it would fall apart any minute.

After that i thougt it would be a good idea to rebuild the engine bay.
So i got the grinder out and started to take the car apart.

and there was rust... a lot of rust

i started to rebuild every little bit that was rusty

new front, including strengthening plates and removable top.

more engine bay rebuilding and stich welding.

    Made my own strengthening plates

and welded them to the shell

after that i made my own custom lower strut brace

and finished the engine bay by using some special bodyshell adhesive

then it was time for new parts:
    Quick rack

    alloy top mounts

    battery box

And there should be color! so thats what we did, with the help of a friend the engine bay got a new lick of paint.

we towed the car about 10 miles to get to a place with a compressor so we could paint the engine bay.

    like new.... i love it

towed back home by an astra gsi

    reassembling in progress

top mounts set to give a little more caster and camber

    converted to internal shifter

On a rainy day i wanted to know why my engine was knocking so i took i apart and found that one bearing was completely worn out

even the crankshaft was far from a good condition

so i started from ground with a new engine block :-/
while my engine block was rebuild i was going on to continue improve my nova shell

I dindt like the MK2 look anymore so i turned it into a MK1.. with even wider selfmade front wings muahahaha and a new bumper.

    looks like a hillclimb car

got myself some new wishbones from a corsa B because they are 1cm wider than the nova ones. That means 2 cm more track

for that i had to get new polybushes for a corsa B and trim them to fit the nova

    perfect

after fitting them i wanted to know how much camber i could run... as it turned out: A LOT
    left: nearly original
    right: massive camber

both sides with the slight camber adjustment

woah the thread seems to start very mildly, innocent; rookie-like..
-then, very quickly, - shazam! - professional quality work oozes everywhere.

Handy chap with the bodywork and modifying. Work looks good by the companies too.

    Thanks for the comments!

but i have never seen a mk1 bumper that looks like that
Its a Mattig Spoiler, also known as "Monsterface", very rare and expensive. got its years ago for 30 euros because it was a bit broken on the lip.

New polycarbonate windows for my nova

    Irmscher sticker for some styling

my ex girlfriend made me a carbon replacement for the roof window, so i had to disassemble the sun roof

    and fit the carbon replacement

Properly seald it to keep the rain out

    and fitted... looks racy hehe

    did i mention the camber??

Fiberglass bonnet, can be fitted like a normal one, because even the underside has been made.
