I love the insanity in this. As with everyone else on here, I can't wait to see the progress as it happens.
One day I'll start a build thread. One day...
After all this encouragement let the mental-ness begin.
i've been busy the last to saturdays to bring you news what happend to my sanity... eehr i mean, what happend to my Nova
First i removed the battery and the fuel catchtank wich were mounted in the spare tire well
removed the fuel tank underneath
After that done i've started to cut away the excess metal which wont be needed in the future
And found a lot of rust
Luckely this had to be removed anyway
after carefully leveling the chassis i could begin to place the new steal tubes
made a temporary reinforement to retain correct measurments while adjusting the tubes
spot welded them in and made a connection to the factory chassis leg
Removed the the rear axle.
That's all for the moment... to be continued.
Well that's one heck of a way of overcoming the inevitable rust areas and consigning it to the bin, it may offend the "keep it factory" purists, but its absolutely fine with me.
Keep the madness coming, you've got my attention...
What do you Swiss people have for breakfast? I mean, to just whack out the complete rear floor section and put in a tube frame in just a day is beyond impressive.
One day I'll start a build thread. One day...
It's called work ethics, i can give you the recipe
To be honest it's two days with approximately 12-13 hours of work. So maybe it would be possible to cram it all in one day.
But what is needed to be considered here is that i spent a lot of time on planning how to do it, which makes a huge difference
when conducting the task at hand.

Wow that looks great. Are you just replacing cause of rust? Or strength and such?
All I wanted was a Pepsi, just one PepsiFar from suicidalStill I get them tendenciesBringing back them memories
That I really miss when I reminisce
The main purpose of this is to get more space in the boot and get a new rust free base for the double wishbone suspension to build on. The original chassis legs never meant to be strong enough to cope with an engine and drivetrain, so i want the rear as rigid as possible.
Wrx Nova is underway! This build just got a lot more crazy then it already was...

To prevent you all of thinking i'm started to live a normal boring life... here are some updates
I've started to remove the rear panel to gain more space for the new gearbox and welded in some additional tubes to stabilize the rear.
perfect fit the rest of the rusty parts will get removed in the future
after welding and a bit of paint i could remove the temporary reinforcement
the metal for the rear footwell was a bit floppy
so i decided to weld in a small square metal tube.
Added some welding to the original chassis legs
and made some plates to further strenghen the new chassis legs
All welded together and temporary painted to prevent rust...
both sides of course
