Top work as always, look forward to seeing how the rear suspension ends up.

    Nicely done!

Can you tub the inner arches while you are doing all this work or is it not allowed for the competitions you compete in?

Basically i'm allowed to do whatever i want, but there's no need to tub the arches because the wheels won't come near the inner arches. Most likely i have to further widen the arches

    More updates:

    Had to fight rust... right

    and left

After some metal and a bit of welding it's like new

Ready for the new propulsion system

Recieved the Bremar FWD conversion kit last week

    Nice 'n' shiny

On monday the engine got transferred to my shed at home

Had to clean the engine first befor it went to its new "engine bay"

    off it went....

carefully centered the engine before lifting to the correct hight

While attaching some parts i realized that the strut bar has to move because it prevents the gearbox from futher moving up.

and completely blocking the turbo exhaust

mounted the drive shafts to find the engine/gearbox assembly has to move about 2 inches towards the rear

bumper says no! this shoulnd't be an issue after removing the strut bar and lifting the gearbox

i like the view of that

Made a bit more progress this weekend

First thing i did was to remove the rear strut brace

lifted the gearbox to its final position, perfectly hidden by the bumper

and shifted the engine/gearbox further back using most of the available space.

theres still a slight drive shaft offset which i'm going to ignore

As the engine pitch mount was originally fixed to the bulkhead i had to make a mounting point myself

weld it to a piece of metal tube

and create a whole new bespoke strut bar which allows a lot of room for additional parts like an exhaust manifold.

the subaru gearbox crossmember was, apart from one small piece, pretty much useless to me

so i cut it up and created a whole new crossmember

its about an inch lower than the bumper, ground clearance should be sufficient

And this is it at the moment

Once again the Swiss don't hang about. Great stuff, this. Please keep the updates coming. Love this.

On another note: I spotted a rather special VW/EJ20 build at https://youtu.be/1hiYz3CxoQo where the engine is installed backwards (with the gearbox facing forwards). Somehow the wheels turn in the right direction - any idea why this is?
One day I'll start a build thread. One day...

The way the that engine mount's designed & welded on; I would have pretty big concerns over it's durability over time (& bolted onto inner arches). Same goes for cutting & welding angles into tube ~ Some fairly big forces go through engine & gearbox mounts; tube that's been bent will be considerably stronger.

Love the concept of an MR nova!
