The New Mini (as hateful as it is) is NOTHING like the original (which was also hateful)
'Technically' a new nova with a few (or fue) tweaks would be produceable, just the NCAP ratings would be terrible as you may aswell have a Corsa D
Basically a Nova with a drivers airbag and a 1.9 CDTI 170 engine would sell rather well imho (aslong as it was a max of £15K. Lots and Lots of misty eyed people in their 30's now who had novas when they were newish and in the position to afford to spend the £15K on something like that.
BUT then again, a Clio 1*2 is pretty much what a factory big block 2l Nova 'would' be these days.
And a 100% better car too
the difference is that bl/austin/rover/bmw kept basically the same tooling as they were still producing late model old minis, & transferred the gear to a facility that was already making the mg & tr shells from original tooling.....They remake shonky old mini's tho ffs

i can guarantee that gm changed the presses to make the corsa b/c/d as & when necessary. and to retool would be shockingly expensive, even if, as people are known to do, you made concrete press moulds, as the actual machinery is big money to buy & run
my money is on searching in places like egypt & cyprus for rot free donors & shipping them back in a container.

spud, my sister lives in cyprus & there are quite a few corsa a's over there & they drive on the same side as we do......
