Default Concourse Mustard Yellow Nova SR Turbo.

    Hi Guys,

So the time has come unfortunatly to consider parting with my pride and joy..............

    HISTORY.

As many of you know I bought this car from Shaun Larnder approx 2.5 years ago already meticulously converted by himself a few years prior. I bought it mainly due to its rare colour, excellent condition and good spec. When Shaun bought it approx 6 years back I think it had covered somewere in the region of a low 50k and was more or less a standard car. Soon after buying I stripped it down for a top quality full body restoration but later once this was finished the engine gave up. This prompted a full comprehensive engine rebuild as I didnt want to just go down the cheap route buying an engine that I didnt know the history of or that had been built poorly etc. Whilst the motor was out the engine bay was painted along with just about everything that mounts in their! With a freshly rebuilt engine the finished result is an extremely well built nova turbo that looked after correctly will last someone for years to come. I feel this car is one of the best out their but stands out from all the rest due to the genuine rare colour/model combination that their is very few of left remaining.
Its wanted for nothing and had the best of everything to suit the spec I wanted.

    BASICS.

Genuine 1988 Mustard Nova SR, 74k, Mot'd until July 2012 and Taxed until the end of october this year. HPI clear, Stacks of service history/bills from myself and previous owners. Immaculate condition throughout.

    BODY.

Genuine 74k 1988 Mustard yellow 1.3 sr, Standard sr two tone kit and badgework, Stitch welded engine bay with Chris Astley plating kit, Chassis leg cut/boxed for alternator clearance, Front crossmember cut/boxed for intercooler clearance. Chris Astley engine/gearbox mount kit, Custom single skin folded rear arches, Folded front arches, Aerial removed, Euro rear fog light cluster for a symmetrical look, Front bumper and support modified slightly to accept the fmic, All original glass throughout. This shell was in very good condition pre restoration.... Its never been jigged or accident damaged structually and their was very little evidence of anything other than cosmetic work being carried out. The original splashguards,crossmember,front/slam,sills and rear panel still remain and are in perfect condition hence why all alignment throughout is excellent. The Underside is excellent and has seen no welding nor does it need any. Its all finished in clear waxoil too so all is visible apart from the spare wheel well which I applied grey matt too. I did this as the yellow stood out below the rear bumper way too much for my liking! If their was any corrosion anywere on this car Its been removed properly and permanently! As far as Im aware it led a very pampered life and certainly hasnt seen any wet weather for the last 5-6 years at least. Being garaged and not used in winter months by myself and the previous owner.

    MORE INFO.

Full body restoration in march 2010 utilising original colour scheme. Comprising of New genuine doors, wings and rear wheel arches, New genuine pillar/tailgate decal set, gutter trims, body mouldings and pinstripes. A custom semi matt grey was matched to the original vinyl and applied to the lower half of the car as well as the wheels, bumpers, grille, spoiler, door handles, roll cage, lock/window surrounds, rear grab handle and rear drums. In September 2010 the engine was removed for a full rebuild and at this time the custom grey was again used but with a high temp clear with added matting agent to be later applied to the engine block, gearbox, bottom arms, tie bars, anti roll bar,hub carriers, engine/box mounts, and many other components. High quality Bmw colorsystem paint/materials used throughout. Any dents/shallows were removed via paintless dent removal/blocking before the car was painted to limit the use of filler throughout. The final flaws (which their were little of) were later removed after the fresh paint had cured. The bodywork is straight as an arrow due to this and the new panels that have been fitted.

The guys who built my engine are highly trained proffesionals with huge experience and interest in this area. They worked at the same dealership as myself for years before setting up their own business. Which is why I used them as theirs no one I trust more to put in the same efforts I do but in a mechanical aspect. The final fit and finish throughout the car is stunning. The paint still looks fantastic almost eighteen months after being applied and still doesnt have a stone chip or mark in sight! If you havent seen the car already I can promise you wont be dissapointed. The only thing I can think of that it needs is It could do with the tracking setting and steering wheel straightening up but thats it really. If I get time to have this sorted though I will.

Please read my wip thread on the link below to see everything in detail that has happened to the car under my ownership.

I had my reasons Rich........ We have plans to extend our home being the main priority at the moment. I can always have another project later on. Another vaux will be the replacement as and when.
