Default Any technology buffs, internet problems

i need to be able to get wireless internet outside my house in the shed which is about 40 to 50 feet away at most, i have my modem moved as close as i can get it, but i can get very low connections sometimes and most of the time cant get anything, my modem is from my broadband supplier eircom, and doesnt have a removeable aerial, does anybody know is there a range booster i can get to help the signal or what would be my best option to get a good signal

You can get an external aerial that connects to one of laptops USB ports which may help?

    Edit:

Something like this should do the job, it connects to the router to increase the range:

    You need a Wi-Fire

Alternatively, the pikey method is to get a wifi PCMCIA card, one with an aerial on it, then drill a hole in the base of a pringles tube and stick that on your wifi aerial. Cue directional long range wifi

You can also fudge around with the power of the aerials etc but the easier options are above.
