Why??...and how?? seriously how does a 17,18,19yr old afford to pull out that kind of money to insurance a car? especially when it's value is not even half of that!!...

    We grin and bare it,

I bought my Nova originally for £200 (have obviously spent alot more than that on it now), but I pay almost £200 a month on my Insurance alone. Couple that with other essential outgoings and I'm scraping by each month.

Also as above, my Insurance was £2.6k until I added my Mother as a named driver which reduced it to £2.2k

Classic car insurance tends to have a lot of restrictions. Depends on the company, but most will require it to be a proven second car, very limited mileage (usually 6k or less - and most kids in their first year drive EVERYWHERE ), garaged etc.

A GTE as a first car will be a struggle tbh, an rightly so IMO - yes its "only" 100bhp, but for a first car thats a lot.

    Most like it bareback...

Why do they always up the insurance when you switch to anothe car, that is virtually the same (as in I went from a 4speed merit to a 5 speed L) then told me my insurance was gonna go up a tenner a month, I know it ain't a lot but that ain't the point...

Mine went up £130 when I switched from a group 11 list of mods as long as my arm 1.6GTE engined nova to a group 5 had to have an air filter to satisfy my modified policy 306 diesel.
