    1st Year - £1991
    2nd Year - £1050
    3rd Year - £950

It does go down. The third year was this year though, and therefore subject to the hurrendous insurance hikes.

Currently driving a Corsa Sport 1.4 XE though, paying £1200 for the privelage to insure that.

Modified insurance can be cheap though, cant remember who it was, but got quote following quote last october

    Nova 1.2 Lux
    2.0 XE engine declared
Everything possible declared, suspension brakes etc etc
    2 years NCB

quote was £1400 which i was surprised about, considering a month later I payed £1200 to insure a 1.4 corsa

Just bite the bullet and build some no-claims up, it's worth getting it under your belt early as it starts to come down in your 20s.

In reality you won't insure a Nova on a decent policy for under 2 grand until you're into your mid 20's.
i am going to sound very old here but this is a harsh reality

when i was 19 i insured a 1.2 sting for £800 with pass plus in my own name

i also insured a gsi at 21 for £700 with 2 years NCB

    a 2.0 16v conversion SR for £480 at 23 with 4 yrs NCB

modern day insurance for those with no history is simply a harsh time but a lot rides on your postcode as well as your age. try your details at a "safer" postcode and see the difference (its shocking!)

Will, things have changed a bit since we were young, as I found out last year

That was Feb last year as well, so things have probably gotten worse since then too. Its not uncommon to find younger drivers on here insuring their Novas for £4-5k.

its awful. the quotes i mention above are from 2002, 2004 and 2006. appreciate i was getting older and more NCB but still "young"

I am so out of the loop in general insurance as i havent had my own insurance since 2006 (company insurance on a golf)
