Good work
You not fitting all the new panels yet then mate?
Cheers Edd, although I'm not doing a thing here yet...
No, I want to save them for later use. My panel beater know's what he's doing and he told me that it would be a shame to use the new panels now as it's relatively easy to cut out the rust and weld in new patches. Plus I don't want to spend too much money on the GSi, but it needs to be safe to drive though. Hence why I've bought a new fuel tank and will be changing all fuel lines in the coming weeks.
Panel beater is on holiday as from tomorrow so we'll continue upon his return in two weeks... We've already cut out the exhaust system and I will be stripping the underside before respraying it with U-Pol Gravitex. We've made a plan to restore the full underside over winter including the two rear arches and the sills. I'll be doing as much work myself in his bodyshop to keep the costs down on this project. I have no experience with grinding/stripping/sanding a car so that should be a fun job!!
Nice looking tank. Wonder if there's any differences between this and the OEM fuel tank. Keep us posted mate.
One day I'll start a build thread. One day...
What a nice little tankie!.... Mmmm, sounds like...
Lt. Gruber!!
Had a good chat with the guy restoring the GSi today. He's willing to help me restore it during the winter, but he want's me to come over regularly as he doesn't want it up on a ramp without anything happening... Sounds like a good deal to me, I get to do all the no-brainer work on the car. That means mostly stripping, cleaning, grinding, swearing, etc.... LOL
This weeks progress:
Tow bar is off now!
Exhaust removed, fuel tank removed, fuel lines removed, fuel pump removed, tow bar removed, more to come!!
