    Default Advice needed?

Right then just after a little advice please from those in the know?

would mixing petrol cause the ecu to throw up a knock sensor code?

Basically i had £20 worth of normal 95oct unleaded in and i topped up with £20 worth of 99oct unleaded which is what i normally use sas we were off to beverley for the weekend car drives there no problem at all 80mile journey great. So we set back off today with the guage just in between half/3quarters full. Driving down the motorway tanks just reaching halfway at about the same point as when i put the 99oct in and ECU light comes on thought nothing about it power felt a little flat but nothing i could do in the middle of the motorway so as we got closer to home i turned engine off and restarted light goes out and i drove the rest of the way home with no further problems. Would i be right in thinking its because i mixed the octanes and the additive in the 99 stuff has caused the knock sensor to have a fit?

    Cars a 1993 nova C20XE.

Code 16 was flashed which is knock sensor no change in voltage.

Checked all wires everything seems ok and lights still out?????

Rep will be given and sorry for the essay.

    Damo.

Once it logged the code it would of probably kept the eml on. As long as you don't get any issues it will be fine now imo.

cant see why running a higher ron of fuel would cause this problem, on my e16 there is a ron plug that is ment to be change in accordance with what grade of fuel you are using but iirc a C20 didnt have that.
success is only limited by a weak mind

I mixed them though bazil so the higher octane may have had an additive in it causing the change in detonation thus causin the eml to log a knock sensor code.

Lol i wish it guzzles now with carbs id have to have shares with shell .

Its not been back on though since i had the same fault months ago and the wire had broken that goes to the knock sensor so i ran a new wire to it and its been fine for 8months ive checked the wire and its still fine.
